Welcome to Storylight Pictures
My name is Kerry-Ann Morrell, and I’m a professional filmmaker based on the Gold Coast, Australia.
I started Storylight Pictures to create our first long-form documentary, Jordan’s World — a deeply personal story my family and I have been living since 2002. My son Jordan has profound autism, also known as severe or Level 3 autism. Through this film, I want to share our journey so others can better understand what it’s like to live with profound autism, and to ensure that individuals and families like ours are seen, heard, and supported.
With a background in film and television, I began documenting Jordan’s life simply as a way to capture our day-to-day reality.

Over time, filming became a tool to help him process and understand the world around him. It also left us with a powerful and detailed record of our experience.
This story is incredibly personal. I have four children, two of whom are on the autism spectrum—one with Level 1 autism, and Jordan with Level 3. Despite the vast differences in their needs, both are defined under the same broad diagnosis. We’ve had to navigate a system that doesn’t distinguish between levels of severity, forcing us to move states and even countries in search of adequate support. And after 23 years, that system hasn’t meaningfully changed. Currently, there is no formal recognition of profound or profound autism.
I often find myself asking: Is this really the best we can do for individuals like Jordan?
Through Jordan’s World, I want to share our lived experience in hopes of fostering better understanding, better care, and better support for those with profound autism. Right now, people like Jordan are slipping through the cracks—and families like mine are living in those gaps.
That needs to change.

Jordan’s World
A young man and his family share their journey of living with profound autism in a world that was not built for him.
Jordan’s World is an intimate and powerful feature documentary chronicling more than two decades in the life of Jordan, a young man with profound, profound autism, whose remarkable mind is captivated by maps and car washes. Told through Jordan’s perspective and interpreted by his mother Kerry-Ann, this film provides an unfiltered look at the lived experience of profound autism, moving beyond clinical definitions to reveal the love, resilience, and struggles of a family navigating a world that is filled with u-turns, dead ends and stop signs.
